Sugarbug is hiring Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants-

Sugarbug Dental & Orthodontics is an established Pediatric Dental and Orthodontic practice that has been serving the county of Ventura for over 10 years, just a short drive from the ocean in the city of Oxnard, CA. In early 2021, we are opening up a second location in Camarillo, CA. As our company has expanded and continues to grow, so do the opportunities to grow our team. Sugarbug is currently looking for Dental Assistants to join our practice.

Sugarbug is seeking a Dental Assistant to work alongside our other pediatric, orthodontic and general Dr.'s to provide both primary and comprehensive preventive and restorative care for infants, children and teens. This position requires dedication to the delivery of quality oral health care for all children, a caring and compassionate nature and commitment to becoming an integral part of Sugarbug’s oral health care team. Duties include but not limited to the following:

Patient Management

  • Greet patients
  • Set up treatment rooms for procedures
  • Escort patients to treatment room
  • Seat patients in treatment rooms
  • Show care and concern, and help patients feel comfortable
  • Obtain and review health histories according to office protocol
  • Ensure patients are always attended
  • Anticipate and assist dentist’s needs
  • Perform functions and tasks as assigned by the dentist
  • Mix dental materials
  • Ensure patients’ questions are answered thoroughly before they leave
  • Chart patients records, service rendered and any charges
  • Escort patients from the treatment room to treatment coordination
  • Ensure proper treatment notes are recorded in patient’s chart
  • Perform clinical procedures as practice act allows and as directed by dentist
  • Monitor patient flow

Treatment Room Management and Sterilization

  • Keep dental units ready, stocked and clean
  • Oversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization procedures
  • Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations
  • Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations
  • Keep trays, instruments and treatment room drawers organized
  • Ensure that office sterilization procedures document is on display
  • Promptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory cases
  • Implement the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment
  • Follow laboratory procedures according to office protocol

Experience

  • Coursework in dental assisting and procedures
  • Compliance with state dental practice requirements (i.e., X-ray requirements, OSHA training)

Interpersonal

  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community
  • Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff

-Compensation (31-54k yearly range based on hourly pay) depending on Experience Licensing and Education
